Meta Ray-Ban Display: AR Glasses That Combine Style and Technology
Meta unveiled its new Ray-Ban Display smart glasses at Meta Connect 2025, the next evolution of the 2023 Ray-Ban Meta.
These new glasses blend iconic design with cutting-edge technology, featuring:
- A 12 MP ultra-wide camera on the left side
- Microphones and custom open-ear speakers
- A heads-up display (HUD) on the bottom of the right lens
The glasses also come with the Meta Neural Band, an sEMG wristband that lets users control actions with subtle hand and finger gestures.
Specs and Features
The glasses weigh 69 g, slightly heavier than the previous model, and feature a 600 x 600 pixel display with a 20° field of view and 5,000 nits of maximum brightness. Meta claims only 2% light leakage, so people around you won’t see the AR content.
- Refresh rate: 90 Hz (general), 30 Hz (content)
- Wayfarer transition lenses: comfortable indoors and outdoors, supports prescriptions from -4.00 to +4.00
- Camera: 12 MP with 3X zoom, photos up to 3,024 x 4,032 px, video at 1080p @ 30 fps
- Internal storage: 32 GB (approx. 1,000 photos or 100 30-second videos)
Meta Neural Band: Intuitive Gesture Control
The Neural Band captures tiny muscle movements in the wrist and fingers and converts them into commands for the glasses. This allows you to scroll, click, or interact without touching the device. Meta promises that in the future, users will also be able to write full messages with simple gestures.
- Material: Vectran (same as used in the Mars Rover shock absorbers)
- Durability: IPX7 splash-resistant
- Battery life: up to 18 hours
Advanced AR Features
The HUD isn’t just an interface:
- Displays Meta AI responses in text and visuals
- Supports text messaging and video calls (WhatsApp and Messenger)
- Acts as a viewfinder with 3X zoom
- Offers pedestrian navigation, live translation, and captions
Price and Availability
The glasses + Neural Band package costs $799, available in black and sand.
Sales start on September 30 at select US retailers: Best Buy, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and Ray-Ban stores.
Expansion to Canada, France, Italy, and the UK is planned for next year.
